The most significant redesign of hammocks since sailors plied the seven seas sleeping in remnants of sail cloth gathered at the ends and suspended from the belly beams of wooden sailing ships hundreds of years ago.

Description:  The Jacks ‘R’ Better Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock is a true lay flat, sleep straight hammock.  It achieves these notable results by departing from the common “gather end” design to utilize a suspension bridge technique.  The hammock takes its name from the suspension bridge over the Hudson River that carries the Appalachian Trail.  When the Bear Mountain Bridge was completed in 1924 it was the largest suspension bridge in the world.  This is the lowest point of the entire Appalachian Trail at 127 feet above sea level.

So flat you've got to use a pillow!

The JRB Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock is constructed of 70D rip stop nylon material and high strength polypropylene webbing. It will comfortably accommodate individuals up to 6 foot 3 inches tall and up to 225 pounds of capacity.

The primary suspension lines are 1 inch polyprpylene webbing that are isolated from the hammock body first by a one inch welded steel ring at the junction of the side suspension webbing which is ¾ inch polpropylene webbing.  Further isolation is achieved through the incorporation of two more one inch welded steel rings on the corners of the hammock ends.  Use of the metal isolation rings interrupts the downward wicking of rain water before it reaches the hammock thus eliminating the requirement for a drip line to insure dry conditions.

The suspension straps now include

the unique JRB Tri-Glide for quick,

easy, knot free, no hassle hanging.

The design of the hammock incorporates spreader bars on each end.  These are a two piece design constructed of thin wall, one inch outer diameter, aluminum tubing with notched, rubber coated ends to fit into the secondary rings at the hammock corners.

The hammock comes complete with a removable bug net made of no-see-um netting that secures to the perimeter of the hammock body with omni-tape and requires no additional lift tabs or ridge lines.  The four ounce, separable bug net may be left at home when insects are not a threat.

A likewise separable personal gear pocket is also included.  It has two sections which are sized to accept a pair of glasses and a good sized paperback book or trail journal.  It secures to the hammock on the omni-tape perimeter and may be positioned on either end or at any position along either side that the user desires.  The pocket weighs 0.2 ounces.

Finally, for bottom insulation, the bottom of the hammock has a wide pad pocket that will accommodate pads up to 26 inches in width or use the loops on each corner to attach any of the standard (78"x48") JRB quilts as an under quilt (attachment instructions).

And for added comfort we've included a re-usable, 14" x 10", 0.6 ounce, inflatable pillow.

The hammock, its suspension lines, its removable bug net and the movable/removable personal gear pocket weighs 37 ounces total.
