Product Description

Lighter than a similarly rated sleeping bag. No squirming around to get in and out. Easy to vent for temperature control. Designed for use in moderate temperatures, the “Shenandoah” Summer Quilt can be used either as a top quilt (in a hammock or on the ground) or as a hammock under quilt (JRB Suspension System sold separately). This sew through, down quilt alternative to our standard baffled, down quilts is ideal for use when temperatures are not expected to be below 40-45°. For individuals over 5 feet 10 inches tall we offer a long version (86″ in length). Includes a 1.2 oz. JRB silnyl compression sack, and can be compressed to the size of a softball or small melon 7″x7″x5″.

Activ-dri down™ – Activ-dri™ is a hydrophobic down treatment that keeps the down drier, while having no adverse effects on loft, fill power, or warmth retention. Activ-dri down is still down insulation and should be protected from direct exposure to moisture. All types of insulation, whether down or synthetic, will degrade in insulation capability if wetted.

I love my Shenandoah. I don’t bother even considering my bigger quilts unless the forecast is below 32deg at night. I’ve generally been too warm and had to vent alot, even in the 40’s with this. Since it doubles as an UQ, I can use it in warmer weather as an UQ and a bag liner or such as a TQ. Great, flexible piece of gear.

I hike/fish/hammock camp 2-4 days every week, all year long. I have two Shenandoah quilts. In temps above 45F, I take only one as a top quilt. Below 45 degrees, I bring the other as an underquilt. Adding a fleece blanket, this setup takes me comfortably into the ‘teens. They are very light, surprisingly warm, and the black interior gets rid of the night’s body moisture when hung over the ridgeline in the sun. I research all my gear quite carefully, and after three years of intensive use, I can’t recommend this product enough.

I picked up a blemished Shenandoah for a heck of a price and use it as an underquilt on my Hennessey. It’s been excellent down to 30 F. I would totally buy another quilt from them.

Great top or under quilt! So far I tested it combined with the Prolight Plus pad from thermarest and I was toasty warm at 10°C in boxers and even worked for winter camping when combined with my merino wool shirt, medium down jacket, longjons and nylon pants.
Only my feet were cold, but so were all my friends’ when it dropped to -20°C during the night.
I sleep on my back or my side with the top snaped behind my neck, the draw cord quite tight and had no draft issues at all.
A very versatile piece of gear, 3 seasons if combined with clothing at an unbeatable price.

    Cheers JRB!

I purchased this quilt at the Trail Days in Damascus VA. Absolutely awesome quilt! I used it for the first time a week or two back when the temps dropped down into the 40’s. I was toasty warm and comfortable all night. High quality, great price. Good stuff. Thanks JRB!

I bought the Shenandoah to use as a 3 season top quilt. I used it in Early June on a trip to Arkansas and it kept me warm but not hot when the temp was around 50 F. I vented the bottom and it was awesome. It’s very light and packs down small. Great quilt for a great price.
