Product Description

July Featured Product

No more wrestling with pads inside the hammock. No more waking up cold in the middle of the night. The “Nest” under quilt retains the convenience of the Hennessy bottom entrance with a split entrance w/non-snagging, mixed hook & loop (fastens to itself) that attaches to the Hennessy’s entrance hook and loop. The “Nest” attaches to the hammock in under a minute without sewing or special hardware (attachment instructions). It comes with a JRB Suspension System and the improved foot end draw cord modification to assist in elimination of the dead air pocket that sometimes is experienced under the legs. Includes a 1.2 oz. JRB silnyl compression sack.

Note: The “Nest” was specifically designed for the Hennessy Ultralite Backpacker A-sym. However, the design of the suspension system and the mixed hook & loop closure on the slit allows it to fit all asymmetric models of the HH and most other lightweight camping hammocks.

The Hennessy Adventure Racer requires the addition of two elastic straps. Simply advise us when you order if you have this model and we’ll add these at no cost.

The older non-asymmetric models of the Hennessy require a simple modification to the Nest. If you have one of these, again simply advise us when you order and we’ll apply the modification at no cost.

Activ-dri down™ – Activ-dri™ is a hydrophobic down treatment that keeps the down drier, while having no adverse effects on loft, fill power, or warmth retention. Activ-dri down is still down insulation and should be protected from direct exposure to moisture. All types of insulation, whether down or synthetic, will degrade in insulation capability if wetted.

Purchased: September 27, 2012 (still using it as of 1 March, 2014)
Delivered: Well under 2 weeks (outstanding)
Use: Hennessy Hammock; scouting, long hikes (AT/smokies/Carolinas), car camping, tree dwelling only, etc…

So I used this the first day I got it. I spent the weekend in the yard and used a fleece blanket on top then the next night used a 30 degree mummy. Both with no issues staying warm at all; 50’s at night. Just as a trial run, testing and learning.

I have used it several times at our scouting events without any issues in an open field (not on ground). It stays in place very well and covers head to toe and I’m 5’11”. It has definitely blocked some serious wind/rain and remained warm/dry. Temp’s ranged from 40’s-50’s and 80+. I found that draping it a little keeps the wind from whipping all of the warmth away from me so I can vent a little if I get too hot.

I camped at Black Mountain in the Smokies where it rained sideways. The fly I was using failed to block all of the rain and it collected in the quilt, between the hammock. It never got the down wet and there was a standing puddle inside. No wonder my butt was cold. It worked swimmingly tho (pun intended).

I also used this little guy at the summit of Mt. Mitchell, NC; 6,684 feet, the highest point east of the Mississippi. It was the coldest weather I’ve been in using the hammock/nest…but not an issue while using this and the 30 degree mummy bag. My friend had to stay in the car overnight, his hammock wasn’t warm enough. My feet got chilly and I survived the night. The wind was whipping everything around and the rain was unbelievable. I tied the hex-fly straight down on both sides and slept like a baby…with cold feet. My feet are normally cold tho.

I thoroughly recommend the Nest, it’s fantastic. I have had no problem with the durability or warmth in several environments/conditions. I’ve got more scouting trips to look forward to. I’ve used it all on the Bartram Trail / AT section near the NOC. It’s all very lightweight and versatile. Being active duty military JRB helped me out with generous discount. The customer service was outstanding! I’ll be getting my top quilt shortly (Sierra Stealth). I’m excited to do more business!

Outstanding pieces of gear. Purchased the Nest to use with my HH Classic. I have limited mobility so needed something that was a set up, no sitting up to adjust kind of gear. I got it with the Nest. Once I got it set up on the HH I get into the hammock lay back and the Nest pops right into place.

I have had it out at 32F and no cold spots. I could not be happier.

I bought two of these back in 2006 when my wife and I first got our HH bottom entry hammocks. On the first trip temps dropped below freezing and we were plenty warm with our Nests under us and just light summer bags as top quilts.
